Review: Charmzone Dasima Mineral Pack (Wash-Off Pack)

~Charmzone Dasima Mineral Pack (Wash-Off Pack)~

Description: Cleanses and revitalizes skin. This marine pack contains a variety of ocean ingredients, such as Dasima, that allow for essential minerals to penetrate and add resilience to tired skin. It also cleanses by absorbing sebum, makeup, old rough layers and dirt from within pores and creates clear and transparent skin while maintaining smooth and healthy skin by achieving a perfect balance of oil and moisture.

Potent Marine Ingredients:
~Dasima (seaweed)~

Dasima seaweed is packed with vitamins, minerals, trace elements, and amino acids that are essential in maintaining healthy and youthful skin.  This natural marine wonder helps slow the aging skin process while protecting it from the harsh environmental elements in the air and water. Essential vitamins include: A1, B1, B2, B6, B12, C, E, K, pantothenic acid, folic acid, and niacin. As well as being rich with antioxidants such as beta-carotene and over 60 trace elements that include potassium, calcium, iodine, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, zinc and manganese, seaweed is a major source of B12. Selenium and ascorbic acid protects the skin from damaging free radicals. Organic Iodine found in seaweed increases metabolism. Seaweed also contains fatty acids to combat skin irritation and inflammation.

~ Laminaria Digitata~

Polygalactosides react with the protective outer surface of the skin and the ion-ion interaction forms a protective moisturizing complex, while the fucose polymers are hygroscopic and act as hydrating agents. The ursolic acid can help form a protective barrier on the skin. The above-mentioned compounds contain abundant non-essential and essential amino acids such as proline, glycine and lycine - all of these are also found in the elastic fibers of the skin - and maintain and improve skin elasticity by improving hydration. Scientifically, Laminaria digitata constituents are calcium, potassium, iodine, mannitol, as well as fat, protein, carbohydrates and vitamins E, C, B12, B6, B3, B, A and Zn, F, Cr, Co, Mn, I, Na, Fe, P, Mg, K, Ca. The mineral salts and especially iodine stimulate the general metabolism and cause an increase in osmotic exchanges, thus bringing about elimination of excess fluids.

~Oyster Shell~

Usually the shell is discarded, however, it is rich in enzymes, vitamins and mineral substances mainly calcium to help revitalize the skin. The oyster shell extract helps to provide cellular metabolism within the skin, thus leading to brighter more clear skin. Through metabolism, your skin will deeply regenerate and rebuild the epidermis to make it stronger. Therefore, results of a firmer, and lifted face are achieved.

Review: The importance of clay-masks helps absorb impurities deep within your skin. Kaolin is the second ingredient – it is a natural clay substance that cleanses the skin and unclogs pores so your skin becomes smoother and softer. The color of this wash-off mask is light green, and is VERY EASY to apply to the skin. The consistency is very soft, and is not messy like other clay masks I have tried before!!! You leave this mask on for 30 minutes, until it is fully DRY and then you wash it off gently with lukewarm water. You can feel a tingle with this product, but it is definitely not harsh! The scent is almost like an ‘ocean’ scent – very calming. I love how super soft my skin feels – and bumps are less noticeable. You can definitely tell that this really cleanses deep within your pores. I made sure to do a close up to see whether it stands by its description – and yes it does!!! Products are easily absorbed into the skin – and it leaves no residue whatsoever. Comparing this to peel-off-masks, if you want something less harsh (for those of you who find peel-off masks difficult to work with), this is a buy (or any other clay mask you prefer). Just remember NEVER EVER apply this around your eye area and lip area, please! It will cause damage!!! I highly recommend this treatment mask for those with oily or troubled skin. I used this on my dry cheeks, and found no problems! A great way to treat your skin hehe! :)

Is anyone using a clay-mask they love? :)

  1. Hi Korean Skin Care!
I have a general question if you don't mind me posting it here. Well first, I love your blog, it is so informative and I really appreciate all your reviews and responding to emails. :)
I'm just wondering what the purpose of alcohol is in the skincare products. I've heard it's best to avoid it if you have sensitive skin, so is it harmful to your skin, and if so why is it one of the prominent ingredients in a lot of these products?

  2. Hi Anonymous! :)

Thank you so much! I'm so happy it is helping you out - its so hard to find information on Korean products, especially here in the West!!! Thank you!!!

The reason alcohol is used is to 'dry' out the skin (used to dry out acne, blemishes, calm inflammation) - especially for oilier skin types. When we see Western products containing alcohol (which normally they do - especially toners), the difference between how Korean skin care formulates alcohol is different than how it is formulated here in the West (it can be WAY TO drying - which is really bad for the skin). You can feel a tingle with this clay-mask, but it does not dry out the skin.

For example, Joseibi from Joseibi.com has dry dehydrated skin and has sensitive skin. But she used the Sulwhasoo Balancing Water, which has alcohol listed in the top ingredients too, but because it is formulated to resist irritation, she did not experience any dryness - its all about formulation, but in my opinion, sometimes it is best to stay away from alcohol in skin care (mainstream skin care), it can get irritating - especially for sensitive skin and dry skin.

You always need to test out products that have alcohol in them to make sure your not going to get a bad reaction. But again, for sensitive skin, I advise not using products that just list "alcohol." There are certain alcohols that are better options, like Cetearyl Alcohol. Nonetheless, alcohol is used to dry out the skin (usually great for oily skin) - if your sensitive skin can tolerate it, then it is fine. Are you looking for any products in particular without alcohol by any chance?

I hope this solves any inconvenience!!! <3!

  3. ah! I get it now. Thanks for clarifying, this is helping me in deciding to try out new products. I've been wanting to try out the Sulwhasoo Snowise products but am hesitant due to the alcohol content. Maybe I can just do the serum and cream. Also I've been staying away from the Sulwhasoo Balancing Water, but since I have a sample perhaps it can't hurt to try it out. I'm waiting for Bergdorf's to get the Extra Refining line as I read in your blog the Extra Refining Water does not contain alcohol, right? But that line is a lot more expensive, isn't it?

It completely made sense what you said about the different formulations making a difference on how irritant it is on the skin. I was hesitant at first, but I tried the Sulwhasoo Clarifying Mask for the first time last night and did not have any sensitivity issues. :)

Thanks again Korean Skin Care, you're the best!

  4. Hi Anonymous!!! :D!

No problem! If you feel alcohol is too much for your sensitive skin, skip any product that contains alcohol! Usually the creams and essences/serums don't contain them - and I would actually recommend those two anyways haha because they are the best brightening products I experienced from the Snowise range! If you want to try the Sulwhasoo Balancing Water - test it on your neck before you do on your face :)

The Extra Refining line is the premium line in Sulwhasoo - it works wonders!!! The scent is SO SOOTHING and the results are amazing. Thats right, it does not contain the alcohol that is irritant for sensitive skin. It really is expensive - even the toner and emulsion alone - around $250 in total :| But I wouldn't recommend it if it didn't work! It definitely stands by its price and aim.

Oh wow! So glad to hear that!!! How did you like the Sulwhasoo Clarifying Mask? Love the results from this peel-off mask!!!

You're very welcome! Thank you!!!! Please let me know if you need any help :) Xoxo!!! <3!

  5. Hi Korean Skin Care,

This product sounds good. Will you give me its Korean name so I can search for this on Gmarket? I tried to type Charmzone before for the albatross sunscreen and nothing came up. Thank you.

  6. Nvm. I found thus. However i accidentally ordered the peel off pack instead of wash off. I really like their sunscreen though.

  7. Hi Kooslee!!! :)

Oh no! How do you like the wash-off type? It was highly recommended by the SA at The History of Whoo (which sells other LG products). She recommended that the Whoo Brightening Peel-Off-Pack was her top choice - and it works amazingly. Although, Sulwhasoo Clarifying Mask (peel) is much stronger in comparison :)

I missed you too! Extremely sorry for my absence - I am trying to get all my reviews on the way <3!!! Muah!

  8. The scent from Charmzone peel off pack is very strong. It is nice but could be overwhelming. I tried it yesterday. It peeled off easily. It made my skin feel soft. However, today my skin is red around the cheek and mouth. It is very sensitive and dry. I am not sure from the Charmzone pack or that new History of Whoo Whitening toner, or hust the hot and humid weather in the midwest. I could might just reacting to the alcohol level in the toner. What are your thought on Seol's toner? Thank you, Korean Skin Care.
