Sulwhasoo Skin Clarifying Mask Review

Description: A peel-off mask purifying and clarifying dull, devitalized and problem skin. Formulated with Korean Medicinal Herbs, this peel-off mask purifies and clarifies dull, devitalized and problem skin.  Traditional Korean Medicinal Herbs such as Small Solomonseal Powder, Honey, Japanese Honeysuckle replenish nourishment for improved, brighter skin tone and texture. This unique textured peel-off mask effectively removes impurities and dead skin cells to promote clearer and smoother skin.

Potent Ingredients:

~Japanese Honeysuckle~
Okjuk extracts suppressed the oxidation of biological membranes thicken the skin cells, which improves the skin texture.

~Small Solomonseal Powder~
Antibacterial and cleanses the skin. When applied to the skin it cleanses it from freckles, spots, and blemishes, leaving a fresh and brighter skin.

~Honey~
NMF (natural moisturizing factor) components of honey to moisturize the skin and increases skin moisture, which will lead to smoother skin. Contains the building material that is responsible for the moisture balance of healthy skin. The skin regains its natural ability to absorb moisture and to retain it, thus lending it elasticity and suppleness.

Before I begin my review, I would like to discuss the importance of peel-off masks. Peel-off masks are a very essential step when taking care of your skin – it will help absorb your skin care products, aid in keeping your skin unclogged, clean, clear and fresh. Remember to pick masks that have beneficial ingredients for your skin! The difference with a cream mask is that when it dries, you wash it off with water. However, a peel-off mask requires you to gently* peel off the mask. The Korean SA at Sulwhasoo told me that when using a peel-off mask, make sure to apply a light moisturizer (emulsion) before you apply the mask so it will not be too harsh on your skin when you peel it off.

Review: The Sulwhasoo Clarifying Mask is a great peel-off mask I have ever used! I have been using it for years, and just love it!!! You would not expect it, but it also removes some blackheads (however, you do need a blackhead remover for serious removal – although I never recommend those nose strips, its WAY TO HARSH for your nose area). The texture of this peel-off mask is very sticky - almost like a honey feel, but is easily manageable. I apply a really thick layer on my skin, and let it dry for 20-25 minutes. Once dried, you should start peeling from bottom outwards. Remember, never apply it around your eye area – you will cause future damage! Usually for those who have an oily T-zone, you can apply it just to your forehead, nose and chin area, but for those who have troubled skin, I suggest you use it all over the face – all personal preference. After one use, I found my skin looking very bright and fresh. Especially, the texture of my skin was very soft and silky, and stays like that until the next day! The scent is very herbal – and once again, with all the Sulwhasoo scents are so soothing and calming to your mind, you will love using the products. This is a plus since your skin care products will absorb rapidly into the skin!!! Of course, this is no exfoliant (although it does remove dead skin cells, you need an exfoliant to thoroughly remove the impurities on your skin), so don't replace an exfoliant with a peel-off mask! Keep using this product once a week, and find your skin glowing!!!!! I highly recommend it to those with oily or troubled skin. This is definitely my all time favourite masks!!!

Sulwhasoo Hair Glaze (Hair Treatment Oil) Review

Description: Nature-drawn camellia oil keeps the right balance of moisture and oil on the scalp and hair and green tea oil protects the scalp and hair from external aggressors, giving more healthy and refined look to your hair. Spreading over the hair with no sticky feel and providing natural luminosity and vividness to your hair, and help to restore the natural radiance of your hair.

Potent Ingredients:

~Camellia Oleifera~
Camellia oil supplies nutrients to the scalp and gently protects hair using natural ingredients that do not easily oxidize or deteriorate and protects from free radicals. This oil supplies rich moisture and elasticity to soften the hair.

~Coenzyme Q10~
Extracted from plants, supplies nutrients to help facilitate blood circulation within the scalp. This ingredient helps with hair-loss and anti-aging. Coenzyme Q10 plays a key role in the production of adenosine triphosphate – which help delay the aging process.

~Green Tea (Camellia Sinensis)~
Potent anti-oxidant known as epigallocatechin gallate, aids in hair growth and hair follicle elongation. Helps to soothe dry scalp (flaking, redness, irritation). Green tea a contains vitamin C, vitamin E and panthenol, which work as a hair conditioner.

Review: My scalp had been getting dry during the winter season, and I needed something to help rescue my dry scalp! I purchased the Sulwhasoo Hair Glaze, which is now referred as the Hair Treatment Oil – and it really is a treatment to the scalp and hair. Not to mention, this product is perfect for oily hair too! This hair oil is concentrated with camellia oil, and ginseng being the fourth ingredient on the list (so sorry I do not have the ingredient list) - ginseng can nourish the scalp and boost hair growth. The scent is very herbal, which I love! The oil is quite runny, but when applied to the hair, leaves a nice shine with no residue whatsoever! What I love about this product is how moisturizing it was my for my scalp – I did several treatments with this product where I would apply a sufficient amount of the oil on my scalp, and wrap it with a warm towel. You can also pour some on your conditioner and shampoo. The results were amazing, within 3 weeks of using this product (2 times per week), my hair had recovered. For those of you who do suffer from severe dry scalp, I recommend you use this more than 2 times. Remember that dry scalp = hair thinning and loss. So make sure you take care of your scalp, as you do with your skin. Other treatments include olive oil and grape seed oil. However, I found that this treatment really improved the look of my hair and my dry scalp – it left my hair silky-smooth and glossy – a very natural look! Highly recommended to those with dry scalps, or those who want to improve their hair, it will not leave your hair looking or feeling greasy!

Have any of you tried this oil treatment? :)

UPDATE: The History of Whoo Chung Line – Discontinued?

This previous line, Chung, from The History of Whoo was for sensitive, acne-prone or ‘feverish’ skin. Made with traditional herbal ingredients to purify the skin tone (within the skin) to promote clean, healthy skin by retaining moisture even after applying it to the skin.

Potent Ingredients:
~Atractylodes macrocephala~

One of the main ingredients used is called Atractylodes macrocephala, this herb contains an essential oil, glucoside and inulin, and according to modern herbalists, this is an effective herb for acne because it can suppress the growth of pathogenic fungi – which causes skin troubles.

~White Pine~

Another ingredient is White Pine, which is rich in Vitamin C, and has essential oils, are known to be both an antibacterial agent and antiseptic – therefore, helping with acne, and sensitive skin and used for cuts, dry skin and minor skin irritations.

This line consisted of the Chung Balancer, Chung Essence, Chung Lotion, and Chung Cream – used as a treatment to help with acne and any other sort of skin troubles on the skin. One of my readers, Hope In A Blog asked why this line was discontinued? I decided to go and ask The History of Whoo Korean SA where did the Chung line go? She told me that the sales for this product were not high (– so they stopped ordering the line, and as you guys are aware most Korean products have expiration dates, and this line would go onto the expiration date without it being sold, so it was a waste) because, firstly, here in North America people were not aware of the Chung line (now The History of Whoo is becoming more popular), and second, customers coming into the store were not interested in the Chung line (but more on the Seol Whitening, Jinyul, and Yang line) – low sales was the biggest downfall for this line here in North America. But she told me that their other lines consist of herbs that help with skin troubles – but we do not know when another sensitive/acne-prone line will come back from The History of Whoo, lets hope soon since it is on high demand these days. Great news though, she will contact The History of Whoo in Korea and let me know by the end of this month, so stay tuned!!!

Have any of you tried this line before it was discontinued? Any great results? :)

The History of Whoo Hwa Hyun Line

This premium whitening, hydrating, and anti-aging line with precious concentrated ingredients that dates back to court recipes of Queen Jahee.

From the ancient Chinese dynasties, Queen Jahee stayed indoors to keep her skin fair. She had a special skin care recipe that was written down and preserved because of its effectiveness (and thankfully the Hwa Hyun is concentrated with it). She would use crushed Jade powder and Gold powder and roll it gently on her skin, massaging it thoroughly onto the skin – she did this everyday to preserve her beauty. It was written down that, although she was of mature age, she had skin of a seventeen-year old (all this information is from the Korean SA I talked to :) - she translated the brochure for me). The History of Whoo used her recipe, and combined it with powdered Siberian Deer Antlers, and other 40 medicinal herbs for more effectiveness (a more modern invention of Queen Jahee’s recipe).

Order: The History of Whoo has created the Hwa Hyun Balancer (toner) 150ml, Hwa Hyun Essence 50ml, Hwa Hyun Lotion 110ml, Hwa Hyun Eye Cream 25ml, and Hwa Hyun Cream 60ml.

~Potent Ingredients~

Jade Powder: In ancient China, jade powder was used to remove pigmentation and aid in whitening the skin. It forms a moisture barrier on the skin to help protect the skin from losing moisture, elasticity, and stimulate the regeneration of new cells.

Gold: Gold has been used for centuries, since Cleopatra. Gold helps with the oxidization of the skin, reduces blotchiness, acne, any sort of blemishes, wrinkles (deep and fine lines), brightening of the skin tone; discharging waste, toxins, and impurities.

Siberian Deer Antlers: The History of Whoo’s main ingredient has copper, calcium, manganese, iron, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, sulfur, and selenium. In addition, collagen and all essential amino acids, Omega 3 and 6, and anti-inflammatory prostaglandins. This potent ingredient aids in producing more collagen in your skin – making your skin look young. (There Hwanyugo Cream, which is highly concentrated with Siberian Deer Antlers – cost $950 – guarantees to make your skin look 10 years younger). This now considered medicinal ingredient will help to regenerate the skins cells.

~Few herbs in the Hwa Hyun line~

Technology: The technology used is of course nano-technology - The History of Whoo has stabilized the gold powder, jade powder, deer antlers, and other 40 medicinal herbs to nano-size so these ingredients effectively reach within the deepest layers of your skin to regenerate your skin.

The Hwa Hyun line is for whitening too - so how does this compare to The History of Whoo Seol Whitening line? Firstly, the Hwa Hyun line is much for moisturizing and hydrating to the skin. Both are treatment lines, however, The History of Whoo Seol Whitening line is made for all skin types - so if you have dry skin, no it may not hydrate your skin, but for normal or normal/combo, it will keep your skin at a normal state. The Hwa Hyun line is for dry skin types (normal and oily skin types can use this too - as it will help with oil production), which will help keep your skin hydrated - its an all in one cream!

Have you guys tried this premium line? Please share and tell your experience :)

Sulwhasoo Herblinic Restorative Ampoules Review

Description: Highly concentrated Korean herbal medicinal ampoules that restore skin balance to quickly restore aggravated skin. Herblinic Restorative ‘Complex’ restores damaged skin and restores skin balance for healthy skin with strong resistance against external aggressions. Highly concentrated ampoules that embrace the skin in a thick, dense texture stays on the skin for a long time for lasting nourishment.

Potent Ingredients:

~Membranous Milkvetch~

Removes to the external impurities of the environment within the skin to grow healthy skin.

UV induced cell damage and antioxidant defenses making the skin healthy.

Impurities and toxins of the skin are removed which caused damaged skin and helps the recovery process.

Wastes discharged from the skin to effectively assist the rapid recovery of the skin.

I had received this as a gift, and unfortunately it did not carry the ingredient list! I will try my best to get the full list for the Concentrated Ginseng Cream and the Herblinic Restorative Ampoules (also the three herbs mentioned above).

Review: Listen up acne-haters, you may want to try out this medicinal herb product! This product, which has been upgraded, has been getting a lot of great reviews for clearing up acne. This serum is a 5 week process – 7mlx5. Each 7ml product will be used for 1 week (7 days), and yes it does last if used at the right amount (half a pea-size).  So you will have to give it time as you do with a lot of treatment product. What I love, again, is that this product is all natural. It contains Jaeumdan, which consists of Small Solomon’s seal, Adhesive Rehmannia, White Lily, Chinese Peony, and East Indian Lotus – and Jaeumboweedan, which consist of seven medicinal herbs. The philosophy behind this product is supplying and protecting the Yin energy to recover your skin back to a balanced state.

I thought this serum was for mature skin (late 40’s to 50’s) but when I went to Sulwhasoo and asked the Korean SA she told me that any age group can use this cream, especially those suffering with imperfections, or acne. I did not have acne, however, I found this serum helped REFINE MY PORES!!! My pores were not visible anymore, even if you had come closer to my skin! It leaves a velvety-silky smooth skin behind, and smells very strong in herbs. The texture is somewhat similar to The History of Whoo Ja Saeng Essence – somewhat sticky, but easily absorbed into the skin, that leaves no residue (as goes with many Korean cosmetics). This serum really helped bring my skin into a normal state; it refined my pores, and completely changed the texture of my skin! Using this product constantly for 4 months, I saw results within a month of use. Again, what I love about Sulwhasoo is the fact that these products treat your skin, and even if you stop using the product, the results stay! This product will help remove toxins and impurities within the skin (I would call it a cleanse for your skin, which aids in restoring your skin to a healthy state). Another one of my miracle products – recommended for any skin type!!! :)

Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Cream Review

Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Cream
60ml

Description: A revitalizing cream delivering nutrient-rich Ginseng to the deepest layers of the skin. Formulated with Korean medicinal herbs, this revitalizing cream delivers nutrient-rich ginseng to the deepest layers of the skin to revive damaged, depleted skin. Nutrient-rich extracts from the root and fruit of Korean Ginseng promote renewal and revitalize the skin from deep within. Membranous Milkvetch and White Mulberry strengthen skin's defense against signs of aging and restore clear, radiant skin. A luxurious textured cream promoting healthy looking skin while delivering nourishment to the deeper layers of the skin.

Potent Ingredients:
~Membranous Milkvetch~
~Compound K Enzymatic components of Ginseng Saponin increased hyaluronic acid within the dermal of the skin, which aids in promoting cell regeneration.~

~Ginseng Berry Fruit~
~By strengthening the skin barrier to be effective, as well as your outer skin, a representative of the fruit ingredient of ginseng ginsenosides (also includes protein, amino acid, and polysaccharides) in the synergy of the skin causing your skin to retain elasticity and enhances nutrition.~

Sulwhasoo’s very famous cream, the Concentrated Ginseng Cream, has been getting enormous raves! And I know why! This cream has the potent medicinal herb, Ginseng. Since ancient times, Ginseng has been used to give energy and vitality to the body. Considered a medicinal herb, Ginseng helps to strengthen the inside of the skin, and the outer skin, which gives your skin more elasticity and enhances nutrition through circulation. Sulwhasoo’s Concentrated Ginseng Cream will help erase signs of aging, fatigue, and dullness – into a moist, velvet, glossy, smooth, hydrated skin. This cream is nano-sized with Ginseng capsules to be delivered within the deepest layers of your skin – reason why it works!!! I admire Koreans for using the best technology for their skin care.

Ingredient List:

Review: I used this cream along with my Sulwhasoo First Aid Serum, Balancing Water, Balancing Emulsion, and Revitalizing Serum, then Concentrated Ginseng Cream for 4 months. Sometimes I would use the Concentrated Ginseng Cream alone to see the effects by itself (I used a pea-size amount on my face in patting motion). I am impressed by this cream!!!!! It truly is a miracle worker. The scent smells strong in ginseng, and the colour has a light-orange tone to it. The scent of the ginseng is so soothing to the mind (especially in the morning). The texture is rich, but when applied, your skin is moist. Your skin will feel so soft, and look dewy which continues even after washing your face. What I love about Sulwhasoo is that it TREATS your skin – without those nasty silicones we see in Western brands. Although this cream is made for mature skin, I found it fine for my skin (mid-20’s). It does take some time to absorb, so make sure you have enough time to sit, relax, and patting this cream into your skin thoroughly (takes me at least 3 minutes, but ITS WORTH IT). Result: A plump, fresh, glowy skin, that persists even after not using the cream. This is a miracle cream I would definitely purchase over again and recommend to those who have dry skin (normal/combo – normal/oily – it may be rich as it was a little for me so use at night time) and want an extra step into their skin care for radiant skin!

Sulwhasoo Snowise Whitening Line Review

Sulwhasoo Snowise whitening line is intended to help brighten, clarify, and even-out the complexion through various medicinal herbs, especially the concentrated pomegranate, rhubarb, marsh parsely, licorice root, white mulberry which work in synergy to help circulate your skin and purification within the skin, in order to achieve brighter skin. The scent is a very herbal - very soothing and calming to the mind, as with many of the Sulwhasoo products. I have used the whole whitening line: Sulwhasoo Snowise Balancing Water, Sulwhasoo Snowise Whitening Serum, Sulwhasoo Snowise Whitening Fluid, Sulwhasoo Snowise Whitening Cream, Sulwhasoo Snowise UV Protect Cream for over 6 months, day and night, without combining any other product to make my review authentic - SUNSCREEN WITH '+++' IS A MUST WHEN USING WHITENING PRODUCTS DURING THE DAY!!! :)

~ White Mulberry ~
~ Rhubarb ~
~ Pomegranate ~
~ Marsh Parsley ~
~ Licorice Root ~

Sulwhasoo Snowise Balancing Water

Description: A gel-type balancing water for optimum hydration. Formulated with Korean Medicinal Herbs, this gel-type balancing water delivers optimum hydration through deep and rapid penetration. Kozo and Fermented Soybean Natto extract gently exfoliate the skin, preparing the skin to receive the benefits of brightening treatments that follow. Promotes supple skin through deep hydration.

Ingredients:

Review: For my normal/combo skin type, I found this toner hydrating. I did not apply this product with a cotton pad (never do I do with Korean toners, as they have essential ingredients) I would pour some onto my palm and gently pat it on my skin. This toner is gentle, and the scent is very herbal. The texture has a gel-type consistency, not like the milk consistency of The History of Whoo Seol Whitening Skin Balancer - the Sulwhasoo Snowise Balancing Water is clear, and absorbs quickly into the skin. For dry skin types, this may be a great toner for your skin as it does hydrate. However, if you do suffer from really dry skin, I would advise sticking to a richer cream afterwards!!! All in all, a great toner for the first step of clarifying the skin (through gentle exfoliation) for subsequent steps.

Sulwhasoo Snowise Whitening Serum

Description: Formulated with Korean medicinal herbs, this brightening serum protects skin from UV light and heat to restore vitality and promote a clear and bright complexion. White Ginseng polysaccharides extracts restores skin vitality and Hedyotis Diffusa extracts stimulates skin’s natural circulation, returning a clear and bright complexion. Penetrating instantly, this essential serum veils the skin with refreshing moisture.

Ingredients:

Review: Another whitening serum that IS A KEEP! This serum will help brighten and help to reduce pigmentation, as well as forming new pigmentation. This serum veils the skin, making it smooth and appear lustrous. It is rapidly absorbed into the skin (tip: wrap your palms over your face after applying it) and produces an inner glow within the skin. I used about a pea-size of this product day and night. The texture is a somewhat runny gel-type consistency, it is clear, and smells heavenly, like herbs. I would definitely recommend the serum from the whole line!!!

Sulwhasoo Snowise Whitening Fluid

Description: Formulated with Korean medicinal herbs, this fluid penetrates deeply to clarify and brighten skin. Rhubarb extract prevents the build-up of melanin pigment and assures other whitening ingredients work continuously. Absorbs quickly, leaving the skin smooth and soft.

Ingredients:
Review: This Whitening Fluid has an serum-type consistency. It really does absorb right away into the skin, leaving no stickiness, but only moisturizing the skin (good for normal/combo, may need something richer for dry skin types). Once again, the scent is very herbal - if only Sulwhasoo did not indicate their natural scents with 'Fragrance,' we wouldn't be confused about it. Nevertheless, the result is a smooth, baby soft feel to the skin, without this fluid being to heavy or too rich.

Sulwhasoo Snowise Whitening Cream
Description: Formulated with Korean Medicinal Herbs, this brightening cream recovers clear, even color-toned skin. Spreading Hedyotis extract helps brighten the complexion by protecting the skin against free radical damage and mulberry tree root extract has a cooling effect on the skin. Absorbs quickly, leaving the skin soft and smooth.

Ingredients:
Review: LOVE this whitening cream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It really does keep your skin moisturized, and having dry skin during the winter season, it was perfect for me! I love how it's smooth, rich consistency spreads over your face. The smell is very herbal, and the cream is white. This whitening cream helped lighten my marks, and gave an overall even-complexion to my skin. The Korean SA guaranteed that this is one of the best whitening creams out there, and she sure was right!!!

Sulwhasoo Snowise UV Protect Cream

Description: Formulated with Korean Medicinal Herbs, this dual-functioning (brightening, UV blocking) cream promotes skin's natural circulation, and brightens, while simultaneously preventing future damage from harmful UV rays. Herbal ingredients such as Pomegranate calm the skin and promote skin's natural circulation and Rhubarb extract brightens, and clarifies, while active sun screens effectively protect the skin from harmful UV rays. Absorbs quickly and maintains radiantly matte appearance.

Ingredients:
Review: This sunblock is excellent in leaving your skin matte, there is no oiliness or any white residue whatsoever!!! And thankfully, with many Korean sunscreen, we find them not using harmful sunscreen filters like Oxybenzone, which many Western brands use. The smell is very mild, and the consistency is very light and absorbs quickly and the colour of the cream is light-beige. I am not sure of its whitening effects or brightening effects, but it is a great sunscreen.

Recommend? Yes if you want to clarify and brighten the skin. But I would advise that since I had normal/combo skin going into this line, it kept my skin moist and hydrated. For those of you with dry skin, please have a rich cream in handy!!! I found that The History of Whoo Seol Whitening line really produces whitening effects to the skin, while the Snowise line helped to even-out the skin tone. Both lines use effective Chinese medicinal herbs that work!!! It is all up to personal preference. As for the scents, I would rather pick Sulwhasoo - it is more calming to the mind. Nonetheless, for each product, I used a pea-size amount, and applied it using gentle circular motions, then gently patted my skin for full absorption and wrapping my palms on my face for heat penetration. The ingredients are very natural, with a few of those nasty preservatives. However, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Snowise Whiteing Serum and Snowise Whitening Cream - I found these two products worked the BEST!!!

Please leave any feedback behind!!! :)

The History of Whoo Soo Yeon Cream Review

~The History of Whoo Soo Yeon Cream~

Description: This is jell-type moisture cream, which protects skin dryness from various harmful oxygen and stress and provides energy like pure oxygen (the silver and platinum ingredients) on the skin and manage the bright energy and water vein of your skin (herbal ingredients). The Soo Yeon Cream melts onto the skin and restores moisture. This light textured cream contains powerful ingredients in an exquisite blend. The skin is revitalized and looks fresh and supple.

The products in The History of Whoo Soo Yeon line helps to keep your skin hydrated and protected. The word Soo means water, and the products in this line concentrate on moisture retention and work to replenish skin clarity, protecting against skin dryness. As the formulas are based on oriental medicine, these products provide a fundamental solution to dry and tired skin and ultimately protect the skin from harm. The Soo line is built around the yin-yang theory of the East (the principle of restoring yin-yang balance, replenishing materials that are lacking and controlling excessive materials), reducing redness on the skin while purifying and brightening the overall complexion. The highly defined non-sticky formula allows the products to penetrate deep into the layers of the skin, works to solve skin problems, and adds radiance to the face.

Potent Ingredients:
~Ginseng~

~Acanthopanax Sessiliflorum Seeman~

 ~Lycium Chinense Miller~

 ~Platinum~

 ~Pleuropterus Multiflorus~

 ~Silver~

Review: This gel-type water-based cream is best for dry skin types. I usually get dry skin during the winter season, and always need a hydrating cream to moisturize and hydrate my skin. The SA introduced me to this cream when I went to The History of Whoo store. She guaranteed (as many Korean SA’s do haha) that this product would hydrate, brighten, and moisturize my skin. And YES, it did!!! I used this cream for more then 3 months now, consistent day and night. Its consistency is a somewhat-thick gel, but when applied to your skin, it feels like a smooth layer of water is being absorbed into the skin. The Soo Yeon line has a distinct smell; very fresh, herbal, but not a very strong scent. The main ingredients are of course the use of medicinal herbs to help with circulation, and help your skin retain moisture. In addition, silver and platinum – amazing huh? These two ingredients help to remove excess oil, impurities, and toxins, which allow the skin to absorb oxygen. The result: hydrated, moist, and plumped skin. One word of advice though, this cream may not be suitable for people over 30, as they need more hydration and richness. This cream is suitable for dry skin types around the ages of 18 to 24. I cannot stress enough how much The History of Whoo products work!

Ingredients:

*We could honestly do without the C1 14700, colourant!* But I would definitely recommend it to those who have severe dry skin during this winter season! You will be pleased with this product :)
